Clear Aligners, Tips, Traditional Metal Braces, Uncategorized / June 19, 2017

Take Care of Your Teeth While Traveling!

Whether you have braces or just got them off, maintaining good oral hygiene is an important part of your daily routine that shouldn’t be put aside this summer! So, while at the pool or your summer job, make time for proper care of your teeth and orthodontic equipment. This will keep you on schedule so you can show off those beautiful teeth next school year!

If you have braces and are adventuring or vacationing out of town this summer, you may find it helpful to keep handy an orthodontic repair or “braces kit” consisting of:

  • Travel toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Floss or flosspicks
  • Mini mouthwash bottle
  • Orthodontic wax
  • Nail clippers
  • A small mirror

These are small enough to keep in a travel size bag so you can always have them on hand in case of an emergency.

And, if you have finished with the braces stage of your orthodontic treatment, be sure to wear your retainers as instructed. You worked too hard for that perfect smile and we don’t want anything to change! If you wear clear aligners, a similar hygiene kit is useful so that you can always brush your retainers and store them properly while you travel.

With these tips, you can have a worry-free summer vacation and take the best possible care of your braces and retainers. For any questions, stop in at your next appointment or call your Parrish Orthodontics office!
